Favorite Things Cupcakes

Fullscreen capture 5192013 103947 AM.bmp Fullscreen capture 5192013 103953 AM.bmp PhotoGrid_1368829601743

This box of Favorite Things cupcakes was inspired by my friend, Holly – vanilla cake flavored with almond, topped with a light, fluffy homemade butter cream frosting and white nonpareil candies. Each cupcake was topped with one of her favorite things and backed with gold glitter (…very Holly). I even decorated the bakery box with a poodle-loving pin-up girl that reminded me of her!

Holly’s Favorite Things:

:: Buffy Summers :: Buffy, her Black Toy Poodle :: Wes Anderson :: Coca Cola :: Red Ray Bans :: John Hughes :: Battlestar Galactica :: The National :: Her Impressive Record Collection :: Tiffany’s :: Polka-dots (..and she wore them before they became trendy) ::

I’m in Chicago if you’d like to order a box of my ‘Favorite Things’ Cupcakes for your friend – these are perfect for a birthday party, a girls’ night, a bachelorette party, etc. I would be happy to use your favorite Instagram or personal photos too.

Details: $40 for 16 delicious, homemade cupcakes (completely tailored for your favorite person) in a decorative bakery box. 48 hours notice required.

ValenTINY Party at the Schaumburg CRC

Here are some pictures from the Schaumburg ValenTINY Party, which was held February 17th, 2013. The party was so much fun! The kids and grown-ups ran around the play area, ate some snacks (which included vanilla cupcakes) and got creative at the craft table. Some of the families even made some memories at the Kissing Booth.

Ooh La La | Cherry-Berry Beignet Cupcakes

Pictures4-001

What’s not to “ooh” and “la” over? Cherry pie filling, mixed berries, orange zest, vanilla and mini-beignets make this the sexiest box of cupcakes ever.

The picture will link to the recipe (which I followed exactly).

Schaumburg ValenTINY Party

You and your child are invited to a ValenTINY Party at the Schaumburg Park District! Mingle with other parents while your little ones enjoy Valentine’s Day crafts and snacks in the Creative Activities Room at the CRC.

This party is aimed to entertain children ages 2 to 6 but all children are welcome to attend. This is not a drop-off event so adult supervision is required.

We hope you’ll join us since there’s no school the next day! xoxo

DIY Wreath Toss Game | Cute Christmas Owls

Image

Whoo got carried away with constructing a party game for a bunch of five-year-old’s? I did! I did!

What’s cool is that the game also doubles as a great photo opportunity. Before each child takes their turn tossing jumbo marshmallows through the wreath, I’m going to take a quick picture of them with their face in the center. I’ll order and print the pictures that night through Snapfish (p/u at Walgreens One-Hour) and send them to school the next day to be used as an easy keepsake.

I spent less than $20 putting this together too! The owls were cut from a fabric panel and adhered to the board using Mod Podge. I used an X-Acto knife to etch out the hole for the wreath and adorned the wreath with whatever I had lying at the bottom of my Christmas bins. This was a fun project to put together. If you make something similar, please share it by emailing me a picture or two!

Can You Dig It? | Construction Cupcake Toppers

Construction Cupcake ToppersLook at that face on Charlie. Seriously. I dare you to look at that cupcake joy and not smile…you’re smiling now, right?! YES!

Keep smiling because these looked even cuter in person! For my cupcake toppers, I just use a circular paper punch, some smooth card stock, a bit of double-sided tape and bamboo food picks (from Target!). I like to keep them simple but personalized.

If you don’t want to make the toppers yourself, simply place an order. I accept PayPal if you’re not local. Just Email or Chat with me about it all: PasticheEvents@gmail.com.

Fingerprint Snowmen Poem and Ornament | Class Party Craft

2012 Class Party - K Holiday

First: This is not my original idea…at all. This class craft and poem have been around for years and now my child finally gets to make his own. These ornaments will make an adorable memory for the kids to take home from the class holiday party, I can’t wait to help them out with it. :)

Supplies:

  • Unbreakable ornaments, 1 for each child
  • White craft paint
  • Tray or a paper plate for the paint
  • Ribbon
  • Fine-point Sharpies (assorted colors would be fun)
  • Poem cards to hang on each ornament (I’ve included a blank template for you)
  • Cello bags to keep them safe from other take-home treats

Another mom and I are sneaking in a week early to make the fingerprints so that they are dry the day of the party. DO NOT FORGET TO WRITE THEIR NAMES ON THE BOTTOM OF THE ORNAMENT. It would be sad if the wrong little set of prints went to the wrong home. At the party, a helper will sit with the kids and help them decorate their fingerprint snowmen. Lastly, have each child sign his/her name on the attached poem cards (which have hopefully been tied to each ornament in advance).

I’ll be sure to post Leo’s actual ornament after he’s created it at the party. Please pin my blank poem card* if you use it! Share the ease, please! | xo

Romantic Red and White Bridal Shower | Chado Tea Room

Last fall, I attended a beautiful bridal shower in Los Angeles for one of my best friends, Colleen. Her sister and Maid of Honor, Erin, planned such a lovely party that I wanted to share it here. The bridal shower was held at Chado Tea Room in Hollywood. Small sandwiches, assorted tea and Sprinkles Cupcakes should have been the highlights of the afternoon, but instead, Erin’s beautiful decor and thoughtful details, stole the show.

Erin’s adorable Welcome Table

Erin touched on some very crafty details including giant cardboard initials (C – Colleen & S – Scott) cleverly wrapped in colorful yarn, hand-painted glass votive holders and advice cards for the Bride-to-Be, entitled “Keys to a Successful Marriage.”

Erin is also from Chicago so I will forever be amazed that all of these handmade party supplies actually arrived safely at LAX! She was so dedicated, so thoughtful…she’s a great sister.
