The UK- MX- visiting chair was established in an effort to increase research collaboration and strengthen relations between Higher Education Institutes in Mexico and the United Kingdom. His research focuses on the understanding of bacterial pathogenesis at a molecular and mechanistic level, in relation to colonisation factors, secreted products and physiology. This visit was aimed at promoting my research on Agroecology Accounting in the Mexican context by building a network of researchers to partner with by developing an understanding of the steps being taken in Mexico with regards to the preservation of the agrobiodiversity, traditional farming techniques and understand the challenges in ensuring the continuation of this agrobiodiversity. Listening to the perspectives of the various stakeholders during the activities that we engage with should help to develop an understanding of what is really happening at the ground level in Mexico City and surrounding areas. To promote this, I worked with the following three universities, where I was able to provide a keynote address at each of the universities: 1. Eduardo Quintanar who is working in the area of Agroecology in understanding the relationship between farmers and alternative markets.
